When you love your gaming, it is good to dream of the perfect gaming setup. So, how do you take your gaming up to the next level? While most of us do not have the luxury of an exclusive gaming room, it is always good to dream and plan. After all, you might win the lottery, get a bonus or work, or just prioritize your spending and saving and find yourself with some money to create the ultimate gaming den.

Dream Big

Even if your budget is not as big as your ideas, you might want to start small and then add new bits of kit as you go along. What you decide to buy first is up to you. Will it be a gaming PC, curved screen, or fancy chair? Maybe you like to play on the go; how do you know your setup is best for that?

Looking For The Win?

If iGaming is your passion, your requirements will probably be pretty straightforward. This is because online casinos have optimized their content for playing on the go. Many top game developers and platforms operate a mobile-first approach to gaming. This means you do not need any fancy kit to play online slots, blackjack, or roulette. Unbelievably, they have even made the live-dealer games work for the small screen. Whether you win or lose while playing online casino games, the fun should be in the play – like all gaming, this is about entertainment.

No Headset Required

While it is arguable that a VR headset would make these games even more engaging, just playing on your phone allows you to be transported into a casino where you play against a human dealer and alongside other human gamblers. However, it is not only live-dealer games that are great played on the go. The whole online casino world works brilliantly in a ‘small format’. Don’t believe us? Why not find out for yourself? There are some great offers around to help you find your feet. Look out for offers where you can claim up to 150 free spins with no deposit required when playing in Canada.

Settling in

However, once you are home, thoughts will be returning to the ideal gaming setup whether for online gaming or iGaming. Sure, your phone is great for casual gaming, but serious battles and missions require another level of equipment. Everyone has their own preferences, but here are some things you might want to consider to take your home game experience to the next level.

Are You Sitting Comfortably?

A gaming chair might not be the first thing you think of when considering your gaming setup, but it really is a necessity. Think how long you are going to spend in it. You need it to be uber-comfortable and ergonomically correct to allow you to cross over into the virtual worlds you are about to inhabit. Gaming is a sanctuary and escape from the real world. The plan is to be relaxed – even if you are playing an extremely stressful game.

You need to look for a chair with good lumbar/back support. This will help you maintain good posture and protect you from back pain. Being hunched up on an old dining chair or slumped on the sofa is not a recommended option.

Somewhere to Pull up to

The desk is your control centre. This is where the magic will happen. In an ideal world, your gaming desk is a dedicated space and not a dual-purpose one where you also work. Ideally, you need to keep work and play separate to maintain a great work-life balance. However, you do need to make sure you have enough space for the perfect desk or a secondary desk. And while you are measuring up, do not forget to check that there is also space for that chair you ordered.

Monitor

Now you are sitting comfortably, the monitor is where it all happens. You want a monitor with fast refresh rates, great resolution, and improved colour accuracy. A good monitor does not have to be terribly expensive but you do want to have a smooth image. A curved monitor does help you feel fully immersed. And while we recommend you have a desk, if space is at a premium, think about going wall-mounted with the monitor.

Keyboard

Wireless keyboards are usually preferable when designing a gaming setup. A wireless gaming keyboard should have no lag and better response times than a standard office one. The lack of wires makes the whole space less cluttered and is just more attractive.

Mouse / Controller

Yes, you can play with a standard mouse, but a gaming mouse will allow for customization and has extra buttons that will enable you to optimize playability. Do not forget to get a decent mousepad to complement the gaming mouse investment.

If you prefer a controller to the mouse/keyboard setup, opt for wireless ones that are easy to configure and set up with your gaming PC.

Headset

Only you can decide whether wired or wireless is preferable. The main things to consider with headsets are noise cancellation, microphone, and sound quality. The right headset will allow you to perfect your whole game-playing experience.

Lighting

The lighting is what can transform your whole setup and take it from the mundane to the extraordinary.  This is where you create your theatre. While special lighting could be considered a luxury, playing under harsh overhead lighting conditions will not be pleasurable for very long (if at all). Think about ambient or RGB lighting, as it will be much more relaxing. With bright light coming off the screen, you can have something more subtle around you.

Talking of light from the screen, getting some blue light-filtering glasses might help prevent eye fatigue and headaches, but the jury is still out on their effectiveness.

The Room

If you have the luxury of a dedicated room, then you are incredibly fortunate, but we are talking about dream setups, so let’s dream. You want your room to have the latest gaming hardware and a comfortable feel. If you are a sociable gamer, you’ll want plenty of additional seating, too. While you are dreaming, consider floating shelves (because they look cool), a great sound system, and plenty of natural light.

Get this right, and you can create the perfect place to relax, unwind, chill out, and entertain yourself and others.
