3 Ways To Close Apps on Apple TV

There are three ways to close apps on Apple TV: from the Home screen, from the tvOS App Switcher, and by using Siri. From the Home screen: Highlight the app you want to close and press and hold the Touch surface until the app jiggles. Select Delete. From the tvOS App Switcher: Double-click the Home button to bring up the App Switcher. Highlight the app you want to close and swipe up on the Touch surface.

By using Siri: Say “Hey Siri, close (name of app).”You can also force quit an app by holding down the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time until the Apple TV restarts. However, this should only be done as a last resort because it can lead to data loss.

How to close apps Apple TV

There are two ways that you can close apps on your Apple TV. The first way is to use the App Switcher, and the second way is from Settings.

To use the App Switcher:

  1. Double-click the Home button on your remote to open the App Switcher.
  2. Find the app that you want to close in the App Switcher.
  3. Swipe up on the app’s preview to close it.

To close apps from Settings:

  1. From the Home screen, go to Settings.
  2. Select Apps from the list of options.
  3. Find the app you want to close under the Running Apps heading.
  4. Select the app and press the Play/Pause button on your remote.
  5. A menu will appear with the option to “Remove App.”
  6. Select Remove App and the app will be closed.

Use the Siri Remote to close apps

If you have an Apple TV 4 or later, you can use the Siri Remote to close apps.

  1. Press and hold down the Home button on the Siri Remote.
  2. While still holding down the Home button, press and release the Sleep/Wake button.
  3. Continue holding down the Home button until you see the Apple TV Home screen.
  4. Find the app that you want to close in the App Switcher.
  5. Swipe up on the app’s preview to close it.

How to force quit an app on Apple TV

If you need to force quit an app on your Apple TV, you can do so by holding down the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.

1. Press and hold down the Home button on the Siri Remote.

2. At the same time, press and hold down the Sleep/Wake button on the top of the Siri Remote.

3. Continue holding both buttons until you see the Apple TV restart.

4. Let go of the buttons and the app will be force quit.

If you’re having trouble with a specific app, you can try force quitting it to see if that helps. However, keep in mind that force quitting an app can lead to data loss, so it’s only something you should do as a last resort.

Use the touchpad on the Siri Remote to close apps

If you’re using an Apple TV 4 or later, you can use the touchpad on the Siri Remote to close apps.

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the touchpad to open the App Switcher.
  2. Find the app that you want to close in the App Switcher.
  3. Swipe up on the app’s preview to close it.
